Star revolves around Kalai, who has been nurturing dreams of becoming an actor and a star, ever since he was six. The son of a still photographer Pandian, Kalai wants to get into films desperately and constantly keeps preparing himself for it. After years of waiting patiently and hours of practice, life presents an opportunity. However, just when he looks to use that opportunity, tragedy strikes and he ends up with a scar on his face. What happens to his dreams then is what the film is all about.
